Review: This first novel in the Harry Potter series is still among my favorites. Many say the books just keep getting better, but I enjoy the fact that this one is a little shorter and more to the point. In this first book Rowling has to introduce the basics of Wizarding Society. She does so in a quick consise manner that keeps the reader's attention. I feel like she lost some of that ability as time went on. I especially enjoy Harry's interactions with the Dursley's his annoying aunt, uncle and cousin. Perhaps the best part about Harry Potter is the hype. Normally I don't go for popular things on principle. But it's nice to see so many people interested in the Fantasy genre. It's even nicer to see people queueing up hours in advance for a book instead of a movie. Haryr Potter is worth all the hype that it is getting. I just wish other books of equal quality would also become so popular.
